Peaches & Lily Cleanser Review: Three cleansers, three completely different formulas, and the kind of price point where you really want to know what you’re getting before you commit. At $29 to $35 a pop these aren’t drugstore options that you can just grab arbitrarily and return if they don’t work, so if you’re trying to figure out which ones are actually worth your money and which ones you can skip based on your skin type, this is really it. Because the honest answer is that not all three will be right for everyone, and knowing which one is right for you before you buy will save you a lot of frustration. Let’s join in:

Peach & Lily Ginger Melt Oil Cleanser ($35)

Most oil cleaners are a commitment. You put them on and then spend the next five minutes trying to take them off, and your skin still feels like it’s been wrapped in cling film. This is different. It’s lighter than you’d expect (more like a gel-oil than a heavy oil) and when water gets on it, it really washes off. Clear skin, no film, no residue, done. It removes makeup and sunscreen without any scrubbing, doesn’t sting around the eyes and your skin feels just like your own skin afterward. Not coated, not tight, not weird. The fragrance is nothing, just a slight hint of ginger which disappears before you wash it off. Fungal acne isn’t safe, so it’s worth checking if it’s on your radar.

Main Ingredients: Cetyl ethylhexanoate, sunflower seed oil and grape seed oil.

benefits: Removes makeup and SPF without clumping or leaving any residue; Eye friendly; Light, non-greasy texture.

Shortcoming: Antioxidants go down the drain.

Skin Type: All skin types except fungal acne-prone

    fragrance free: Yes

Peach & Lily Power Calm Hydrating Gel Cleanser ($29)

This is one of those cleansers that doesn’t really attract you at first because nothing dramatic happens when you use it. You wash your face, your face feels clean, you move on with your life. But that’s the whole point in this case – if your skin is sensitive or reactive or constantly irritated by whatever you put on it, a cleanser that does the job without causing any stains is exactly what you’re looking for, and it delivers that really consistently. It lathers up into this soft, milky lather that feels gentle, doesn’t tug at your skin as you wash, and afterward everything feels calm and soothing and like your face is happy to be washed rather than angry about it.

This in itself won’t solve waterproof mascara or heavy sunscreen, so don’t come here for it if you need it. But for everyday use, for skin that just needs a cleanser that won’t make things worse, this is a really solid choice. However, one thing is worth knowing – the brand sells it as fragrance-free, which is a little strange because the ingredients list actually has lavender oil and geranium oil. The scent is so subtle that most people won’t even notice it, but if the essential oil is something that your skin really reacts to, it’s no small thing and you’ll want to know before spending your money on it.

Main Ingredients: Coco-glucoside, TEA-cocoyl glutamate and hyaluronic acid.

benefits: Really gentle; Skin feels soothed and comfortable after every wash.

Shortcoming: Heavy SPF or waterproof makeup won’t cut it; Despite the fragrance-free claim it contains essential oils which may irritate sensitive skin.

Skin Type: All skin types, especially dry.

fragrance free: Technically yes, but it contains essential oils (lavender and geranium).

Peach & Lily Hydrobubble Deep Foam Cleanser ($29)

So your skin is oily and you’ve used enough cleansers at this point to know that the ones that actually cleanse properly make your face feel like you’ve stripped it of everything, including its will to live, and the ones that are so gentle that it can’t really do much in the cleansing department either. This is one of those annoying compromises that people with oily skin come to accept after a while. This cleanser solves that entire problem in a way that doesn’t feel like a compromise.

It starts out as a creamy paste, which already feels a little different than your average foam cleanser, and then you add water and turn it into a lather and it blossoms into an incredibly dense, pillowy foam that feels so satisfying to use that you’ll probably stand there doing it for longer than necessary. It cuts through oil and general accumulation of the day really effectively, handles light makeup without you having to go over the same spot three times, and it penetrates your pores in a way that leaves your skin feeling really clean. And then here’s the thing that actually gets you: You wash it all off and your skin will be completely fine. Not tight. Not dry. It’s not that horrible squeaky feeling that makes you want to immediately slap on half your skin care routine to compensate. Absolutely clean, simple and comfortable, as if your skin has been taken care of and not treated.

There is papain there too. Theoretically, it exfoliates the skin. In practice, there isn’t enough of it on your skin for it to work. If you have dry skin this probably isn’t for you – it’s a perfect cleanser and your skin doesn’t need that kind of attention. And because of the sodium cocoyl isethionate it is not safe for fungal acne, so it is worth checking before buying if you are into something like that.

Main Ingredients: Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Lauryl Betaine, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate.

benefits: Deeply cleanses oily skin without stripping it; Rich, dense foam; Makes the skin clean and soft.

Shortcoming: Too much for dry skin; Fungal acne not safe; Enzymatic exfoliation doesn’t do much.

    Skin Type: normal to oily

    fragrance free: Yes

    questions to ask

Note: I have tried my best to provide accurate information on their shipping policies, but things can change at any time, especially since they ship to many different countries. If you want to order through their website, double-check that this information is accurate.

Does Peach & Lily offer free shipping?

Yes, but only within the United States and only on orders over $50. If you are ordering from a location such as the United Kingdom, Australia or Canada, free shipping is not available – you will pay the shipping costs applicable to your country at checkout.

Does Peach & Lily ship internationally?

Yes, and for a really impressive number of countries. We’re talking about most of Europe, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, British Virgin Islands, French Guiana, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, North Macedonia, Timor-Leste, Turks and Caicos Islands and many other countries. Have been. If you’re not sure if they’ll deliver where you are, simply start the checkout process and your country should appear in the options.

In what currency will I be charged?

It depends on where you’re ordering from. Peach & Lily’s site automatically adjusts based on your location – so if you’re in the United Kingdom you’ll be charged in GBP, in EUR in most of Europe, in AUD in Australia, in NIO in Nicaragua, in RSD in Serbia, etc. This site covers a huge range of currencies so you’re unlikely to get caught out.

    Can I track my order?

Yes, you will receive a tracking number when your order ships so you can keep track of where it is.

    bottom line

At the end of the day, Peach & Lily clearly put some real thought into this lineup instead of creating three versions of the same cleanser with different textures, and it’s not for nothing. But a thoughtful lineup doesn’t automatically mean that every product in it is right for you, and it’s especially wise to be picky when it comes to cleansers because the wrong product used every day will actually make your skin worse rather than doing nothing at all. Take the time to learn what your skin really needs in a cleanser – not the one that feels good, not the one that has the prettiest packaging, not the one that everyone on the internet wants right now – and then choose accordingly. Your skin will thank you for it.
