SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (WCIA) – Memorial Health is launching a new $300,000 fundraising effort to establish a mobile health program.
Mobile Memorial is designed to deliver preventive and essential health services directly to the Central Illinois communities that need it most. The initiative will be launched by LRS as part of the Memorial Health Championships, which will be held June 25-28 at Panther Creek Country Club.

“Health doesn’t start in the examining room. It starts in homes, workplaces, schools and neighborhoods,” said Mandy Eaton, president and CEO of Memorial Health. “If we want to move the needle on health, we have to reach people where they are and be proactive about it, not just wait until someone gets sick enough to show up to the emergency department.”
Leaders plan to use the money raised by the championship and donors to equip a mobile health van that can travel to neighborhoods and rural communities across the region. It will provide preventive screenings, health education, referrals, vaccinations and more to people who might otherwise face challenges accessing care.
“The quality of your health should not depend on where you live,” said Dolan Dalpoas, senior vice president and chief community impact and philanthropy officer. “Unfortunately, throughout central Illinois, life expectancy can vary by 10 to 20 years. Our goal is to deliver healthcare directly to those who need it, eliminating barriers that prevent people from receiving care.”

The Memorial Health Championship is part of the Korn Ferry Tour, which offers professional golfers the opportunity to compete on the PGA Tour. While proceeds from past championships have helped Memorial Health’s five hospital foundations, it is time the organization earmarked funds for a single, large-scale initiative.
“The mobile memorial is a huge step forward in how we care for our communities,” said Valeria Cueto, vice president of community impact and integration. “Every mile this unit travels will help us reach patients earlier, improve outcomes and ensure more individuals and families have access to care close to home.”
