As the sun started to shine, I somehow managed to lose my favorite sunglasses. I’ve looked everywhere for myself Knockaround “On the Rocks” sunnies from the Paso Robles collection (Reviewed here). But now it’s been at least 3 weeks since he disappeared, so I’ve given up. Knockaround still exists, and they still sell “On the Rocks”. Of course, hisshiny blond Tortoise shell/Sky“, also part of the Paso Robles collection, is calling my name. Maybe they’ll be next.
But in the meantime, I forgot that I had a pair of sunnies that I bought about a year ago when we were in North Carolina. Type, GoodThey’re everywhere these days, and seemingly, the controversy about their misguided marketing in 2018-2019 has mostly faded from memory. I bought my nice sunglasses from a discount shoe store outside of Asheville whose name I forget.
Cool “Influencers Pay Double” Sunglasses

The performance aspect of the sunglasses is really quite impressive. The glasses feel as if they weigh nothing. And they are indeed “no bounce”. Although I’m not really jogging anymore because my back finally gave out after 40 years of running, I’m still walking fast and hiking, and good sunglasses are great for that.
The frames and lenses are the lightest glasses I’ve ever tried. To be honest, I don’t know exactly what material the frames are made of, but they are soft, translucent pink “plastic”? The lenses are almost impossibly thin, although there are layers within the lens.
Mirrored lenses, (not my typical choice), actually reduce glare, something I didn’t know. I was pleased to learn that the lenses offer UV400 protection.
Good frames come in 3 sizes: small, medium, and large. “Influencers get paid double“There is a smaller size frame which is perfect for me, although in the photo below they look larger! In fact, not slipping down my nose. The frame width is 137mm. Each style gives you exact measurements for each major part of the frame.
On the website, Double Style on Influencers costs $30. At the discount store we stopped at in NC, I paid $29.97, and I think that store may have been a little shady because the $40 on the pricing label was reduced to $29.97. Hmm.
Good sunglasses come with a 1-year warranty, and you have 30 days to return the glasses you purchased. good website. I’m really happy with mine!
International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day was yesterday (or today, as I’m writing this post), so I wish you a belated International Women’s Day. While it is wonderful to pay tribute to the important women in our lives, as well as those now and throughout history who have lived exemplary, accomplished, and brave lives, it is sad that the majority of the population needs a day to celebrate, but it is. And this is especially sad at a time when women’s rights are under threat. Hopefully you’ll have a moment or two to reflect on the accomplishments of women at home and in the world, women you know personally or we all know through their actions.
On International Women’s Day, I remember Mary Wollstonecraft, an early British feminist (and mother of Mary Shelley, who wrote Frankenstein), who in her Affirmation of women’s rights Said in 1792, “I want women to have power not over men, but over themselves.” And today, I couldn’t agree more.
