During the Artist Studio Open in Beverly MA in December, I bought a raincoat from my friend Constance Festo LaFond (featured here, here and here), an artist whose semi-bespoke clothes were made in Canada. le galeriste It includes his abstract and representational paintings and photographs. The painting that was transferred to the raincoat is called “Garden Joy”. Actually, I already have a Garden Joy scarf, but it’s one of my favorites so I was happy to put it on the raincoat where I can see even more of the painting. Since the weather is very cold here, the cute and colorful raincoat has been settling in my hall closet since December.
Today was a gloomy, rainy day (although we do need rain), but the rain had eased up and I decided I really needed to get some exercise. I decided to take a quick walk in the ‘hood, and today was the perfect day to debut my new raincoat! Plus, it has a hood in case a drizzle turns into a shower.
While walking in my neighborhood, I met two of my neighbors one by one. The first thing each of them said to me was that they loved my raincoat!
I purchased my unlined raincoat directly from Connie during her holiday show at her studio. It’s a size large, and it fits me well and leaves some room for a sweater underneath.
